There are a lot of taboos and customs in these prepared activities. Under the understanding of the traditional concept of marriage, Western wedding culture and its origin, comparison of Chinese wedding culture and Western wedding culture, different analysis of the different cultural backgrounds, the different customs are shown for us finally. There is a long way in the development of Chinese history, so in this process there are many traditional customs formed. Generally speaking, Chinese Wedding hold grandly and lively, they will invite many friends and relatives. Therefore, the general location of the wedding is courtyard or hotel where is convenience and spacious. Western countries have advanced ideas, they focus on freedom and equality between people. They concern more about their individual thoughts. As we all know, a lot of factors may result of different custom, but it do not mean that there are no similarities or commonalities. Frankly speaking, marriage customs and different thinking of thought are directly linked.[Key Words]：Marriage custom, differences, culture摘要在传统结婚仪式上面。

中国的传统婚俗很多繁俗礼节。

而在这些准备活动中有着大量的禁忌和礼俗. 主要是通过对中国传统婚姻观念，西方婚礼文化及其起源，以及分析中西方婚礼文化对比等方面产生的不同，探讨不同文化背景下的了解，表现出的民俗差异。

中国在历史悠长，所以在这个过程中有很多传统习俗形成。

一般来说，中式婚礼举行隆重，活跃。

因此婚礼举行的地点一般都选在交通方便、空间宽敞的院落或酒店.西方国家有先进的西方思想，他们注重人与人之间的平等和自由。

他们更加注重个人的思想。

诚然，婚姻习俗和思想不同的思维有着直接的联系。

Under the introduction of modern Western culture, China's traditional culture converts to it step by step. Many differences exist in the west, thus, the wedding have different marriage customs. Nowadays, to enrich the development of free love, parents drop the previous concepts gradually. People can enjoy more freedom and the wedding process is also very different. Comparison, in the traditional wedding process, many customs are differing from western country.Traditional characteristics is the core of culture, it constitutes the main body of people's lives . Marriage shows the face of the social life and ethnic groups, as well as aesthetics, ethics, values, religion and the development trend of the national psychology. The marriage custom is the man who creates the culture and accumulates the spiritual wealth. As a union of a man and a woman and a family formation stage, marriage includes not only marriage, but also the preparation phase for the marriage and the performance stage after the festivities. It runs through the whole process of life. Western country also has a long history. Due to the influence of a particular environment in the west, they have their distinctive culture, which is differ from Chinese culture.Ancient China has many complex and traditional customs. It reflects the various customs in ancient Chinese culture, which is formed in the long life gradually. With the development of economic and the acceleration of globalization, the Western culture began to advance a more extensive impact and blending. The study of Marriage make us have a better understanding of Western culture, marriage customs, it also broaden our horizons. Comparative study of the marriage custom between Chinese and western culture, we will have a study of specific values in different countries. Because of these gorgeous, colorful wedding customs, we can see morebeautiful landscape in human society.In modern Chinese wedding, if the two people begin to invite guests, it represent that they will hold the wedding ceremony. Generally, guest received a wedding invitation in one week in advance, but there are also some couples will be notified people in one month in advance. The bride and groom just want we know they will get married. This is only a small different point in wedding.In the middle Ages, there was a big difference between Chinese and western countries in the marriage ceremony. The main reason is that the wedding has different cultural roots. The concept of marriage and religious factors, cultural factors are examples of influencing factors between different countries. Chinese wedding culture is shocked by the Western wedding culture, now many young people in the wedding ceremony often adopt the western wedding. Hence, what is the influence of cultural interaction among the different environment? what kind of differences between Chinese wedding and Western wedding?Chapter Two Three factors affect Chinese and Western Wedding2.1 ReligionsDifferent countries have different cultures, so they may believe in a different religion. Most people in china believe in Buddhism. Christianity is the most influential religion in the west. Hence, the wedding usually holds in the Western church and the priest presides at Wedding ceremony. Under the witness of the godfather, according to their individual thought, they get married. Every phase of man’s life is touched by this religion, so that it has become part and parcel of western culture. The most important part of traditional Chinese wedding is preparing for the wedding, once this process completed, the man and woman become couples.Confucian patriarchal ideology is the core values in ancient Chinese traditional wedding; they have a strong sense of patriarchal. So they have few thought of their own felling. They do not have much freedom. They must obey the willing of their family and bear the responsibilities. At the end of the wedding, the bride would throw bouquet to the female guests who arrived at the scene, who received curd, who is the next married person, which makes the entire ceremonylaughing in the end.2.2 Cultural OriginsBasis on ethics, the traditional Chinese concept of marriage has sacred significance. Male and female's marriage is the combination of yin and yang, the aim is to meet commitments by the nature of heaven and earth. The main secular view of marriage is people-oriented. China has thousand years of feudal society, so it has already included some strong feudalistic ideal. The marriage concept of "Perfect match" is out of the traditional Chinese marriage which belongs to the secular ideology.Un der the clan system of “three obedience and four virtues”, the women cannot have their own ideals. As if everything is arranged, their fate cannot change. The policy of cementing friendly relations through political marriages was a typical example in history. Western marriage custom is influenced deeply by religion. So they are equal unlike Chinese who pay more attentions to boy, western people regard girl as the love of crystal. Although there are also some unequal in foreign countries in the history, compare with Chinese traditional custom that is not obvious.2.3. Marriage ConceptsThe Bible says “the man shall leave his father and his wife, and they shall become one". Jesus teaches us, "they are no longer two, they are one body, so god has joined together, he do not let the two person separate. Today, the bride and groom in front of god are given the covenant. People have to remember whether you have common thought, your actions must consider your other half, the other side should feel that you are one body. Friends are excited in the three words, those words is not just the words, it behalf the god will bless you. Thus we can see the western wedding care more about in spirit.In traditional Chinese concept, people regard the marriage as a kind of ways to increase families, to protect and enhance family’s reputation and position. The marriage was looked as the importantevent of family that was not just behalf of one’s own event. The love between the man and the woman was not the first selection of marriage. In western countries, they are equal in position; they pay more attention to their own feeling. Marriage is the testimony of love and marriage is to make the woman and the man live together. But getting married is not the only way, they may live together in cohabitation before the marriage. If they found they are not fond of each other, they will end up their relations. So we can know that the people in western countries have an open mind in wedding. Their thought is active and positive.Chapter Three the differences between Chinese and Western Wedding3.1 The differences between Chinese and Western Wedding in ColorThe bride's dress is usually white, the groom in black dress, so that the whole wedding was solemn and serious. They have the best man and bridesmaid. White represents purity and the wedding ceremony in church is the most important aspects of the wedding. Chinese style wedding is a very special occasion filled with bright red color everywhere, like tablecloths, favors dress, ribbons and more. That’s because red represents happiness and wealth. There are many Chinese customs, but many of them are influenced by western custom. The brides prefer following more modern than traditions such as wearing a white gown instead a red one. So what is unique about a western wedding?The western wedding is truly a celebration of the marriage and the couple’s roots. Its symbolism can be expressed in different ways, in the selection of the music, in colorful attire at the wedding party, in the display of the table decorations. The guests are waiting for the arrival of the wedding party (who are busy taking photographs or right after dinner). In western country, there are something old、something new、something borrowed. Old means that mother put the headdress or jewelry to the daughter, it behalf of all beautiful and good things. Borrow means that you can borrow something from some wealthy people, which can make you wealthy. Blue means that the bride should wear blue ornaments, which represent the bride's purity and chastity.Wedding is the climax of marriage, the bride and groom first to wait for the wedding, the groomand guests on the outstanding hospitality, the groom came to the wedding, everybody started noisy wedding, the bride and groom all stirred up trouble in the next game. They do all this in a whole wedding laugh ended.3.2 Different values in weddingWe all hold certain values though we may not be conscious of them. Values develop standards and guidelines that establish appropriate and inappropriate behaviors in a society. People usually exhibit and expect behaviors according to their value systems. People's communicative competence is the production of social process, thus it inevitable linked with the values. Each culture has its own unique value system, this system can help people to distinguish between beauty and ugliness, which is people's philosophy of life, moral standards and codes of conduct, but it can not be divorced from the specific culture.For Americans, the most important wedding program includes the greetings from a priest, men and women's commitment, bride and groom exchange of rings. Therefore, no common vehicles or even many wedding cars pared in the street scene. And all in the form of buffet in wedding use little money but can make the wedding perfect. Meanwhile, the guests according to their needs, there is not a waste of food. Chinese wedding banquet cost is generally shared by the both the bride and groom. In a banquet, the bride and groom and their parents need propose a toast to the guests. Meanwhile, thank the guests who offered congratulations.There are many taboos in Chinese wedding, which are derived from religious beliefs and influenced by the faith of their ancestors. This is in a spirit of family shackles to maintain the patriarchal feudal society. In addition, this sense of attachment to family, local, family-life, the more the impact of negative thoughts, such as the concept of parental authority, the concept of the husband, heirs inherit the concept, the concept to daughters, etc. Chinese people were deeply affected. This backward thinking can not meet the need of modern life and coordinate with social psychology. They will have a direct impact on the development and progress of modern civilization.Western people respect for individual rights and yearning for freedom. Regardless of origin,social status, people can stand on the starting line with a society from scratch. They eager for the equity and freedom, which is the ultimate goal of their existence. People pay more attention to their Individual ideal in western country. Americans emphasizes on pragmatism, they advocate the practical ways to solve the problem esteem. When there are a conflict between ideal and the reality, the Americans preferred reality. The personal values are the most important in whole Western culture.3.3 The cultural significance of custom is differentThe culture can be divided into explicit and implicit culture. Explicit culture includes material culture, social and institutional culture, spiritual culture. The performance of spiritual and cultural relationship is different, human in order to overcome their emotional, psychological, cognitive difficulties and frustrations, worries and anxiety,Han traditional wedding, the bride usually eat red dates, peanuts, dried long an, and melon seeds. The four foods is a symbol of “Early Takeo”. This culture belong us, so the Han Chinese and a person who know our culture will understand the culture and know the symbolic meaning. Compared with the modern wedding, traditional wedding has been lost fresh face in history. Traditional wedding theme represent good luck and blessing, honor.Before the western wedding, under the protection of God's eternal knowledge, the love is forever. Under the various doctrines, people do not have courage to abandon the doctrine. Marriage is a combination of Covenant.The most essential between the two weddings is atmosphere. Chinese wedding requires a lively atmosphere. They want more people to celebrate. The Western-style wedding is solemn and holy. Weddings are relatively quiet, they usually select the church or other place. They do not completely obey the psychological of Chinese folk culture.Chapter Four the cultural phenomenon of Chinese and Western combination in wedding4.1The reason for combination of weddingIn china, the happy wedding dinner is quite popular at present; it combines with Chinese weddingceremony and Western wedding ceremony. Mostly, the host invites the visitor to attend the ceremony in the evening. At the wedding, the bride can take off the wedding gown and wear the evening dress. The bride has more freedom than past. But why we change our attitude to marriage? What is the reason for combination of wedding?Firstly, with the development of economic, many countries begin to strengthen the intercultural communication. In addition, different cultures are the most important point for this combination. We know from our experiences that today’s world is becoming smaller because time and space are shrinking, the result of the rapid advancement in the areas of telecommunication and transportation. Other factors contribute too, such as international economic relationships, economic cooperation through regional organizations, the movement of people, people’s higher standard of living. All these indicate that we have come into more frequent, abundant and significant contacts with people from other countries. We are facing the reality of intercultural communication in a global environment.Secondly, our life experiences tell us that language is what we cannot do without for our survival. It has a soil to be born and nurtured. That is what we call culture. We will deal with the functions of language, its relationship with culture, communication styles in different cultures and thought patterns which exert great impact on communication. As cultures vary misunderstanding and difficulties in intercultural communication arise when there is a little or no awareness of divergent cultural values, beliefs, behaviors and so on. Cultural awareness plays an important role.Thirdly, multicultural people are those who are intellectually and emotionally committed to the fundamental unity of all human beings while at the same time they recognize, legitimize, accept, and appreciate the fundamental differences that lie between people from different cultures. This new kind of people cannot be defined by the languages they speak, the countries they have visited, or the number of international contacts they have made. Nor are they defined by their profession, their place of residence, or their cognitive sophistication. Instead, multicultural people are recognized by the configuration of their outlooks and worldviews, by the way they remain open to the outlooks and worldviews, and by the way they remain open to the imminence of experience.4.2 How to treat this phenomenonChinese wedding culture is total Surrendered by the "Western powers". China to be civilized wedding country has a long history. With the development of society, people are too busy to concern about that, the national culture is abandoned by the younger generation. Strictly speaking, the most popular Western-style wedding is not really Western-style in today’s world. Christian culture atmosphere is stripped. They do not go to the church and obey the religious doctrine, the initiative thought is gone.The only thing leaven is that they still dressed in a white dress which symbolizes purity should only dressed in a white dress symbolizes purity and holy. The traditional wedding of folk culture is considered as untimely, outdated, and old-fashioned. We should have been actively developing our wedding culture, but we drop it. A small wedding reveal that our country has a deep level of cultural crisis. But in recent years, influenced by western culture, the Chinese people increasingly aware that the “nation is the world’s”.The marriage is not ordinary commercial contract as a paper. The marriage vows is not simple and the pledge is not limited. The sacred pledge is the guarantee of marital stabilizers. The love is two person's matters; the marriage is three family matters and not the game. Therefore, the perfect wedding ceremony is one kind of necessity to celebrate. If we chose the western wedding, when we face pastor, small number of people and the populace (relatives and friends), we must obey our innermost feelings to make the pledge and behind this form, that is the true marriage. We have the necessity to found one wedding ceremony which is newly, tallies with the national condition, and conforms to the traditional culture to replace modern wedding ceremony.People start prefers the traditional wedding. In fact, folk customs are not static, it always changes with the development of society. Under the influence of western thought, Chinese traditional wedding takes place some changes. But whether it is Western or Chinese wedding ceremony, to some extent, the two are same in nature. In other words, the essence of marriage is the same. It is shown that the life has reached a new stage. We do not need worry too much about our traditional culture. Today, marriage is also a important thing in our life.In response to this phenomenon, we should keep an open mind. On the basis of survey, there are 65% of people choose the combination of Chinese and Western-style wedding. This shows thatwe do not forget our traditional culture. Although we are fond of new things, we still have a clear mind in our heart. And under the social development and innovation, I believe we will produce a new concept of wedding culture. Chinese wedding culture will be inherited and continue to go on generation after generation.Chapter Five ConclusionThe most important for wedding custom is that people can see through the numerous and beautiful custom. Not only will people have a clearly understanding of human history, but also explore the development of human society and law, so we can start from this way to learn the ritual system The wedding custom reflects the different values. It is obvious to known our traditional history around the world. The wedding culture in China has undergone historic changes, the evolution of customs also have a very long history. With the social progress, the Western wedding culture is constantly change during this process.There are many differences between China and West in many aspects, the wedding ceremony is just one aspects. But no matter which country, the wedding ceremony always filled with the blessing and the laughter. Through the study of the comparison of the different customs and culture between China and the western world, we can know the reason for the differences between Chinese and Western wedding. Different values lead to different marriage customs. Western thought spreads to China; they begin to have an influence on our life. Many young people marry in western wedding; they think it is more romantic than our traditional wedding. But in recent year, we start to advocate the wedding ceremony with our country wedding characteristic.Today we may use western etiquette and ritual in the wedding ceremony which is not totally adopt our original ceremony. We can see that it is easy to create our own unique ritual system. But the hardest part is we can have a complete and self-consistent value system, a high degree of recognition in their culture. In addition, we should realize a deep consciousness about our own culture.As the communications between countries are closer, we will have a better understanding ofwestern country. The combination of Chinese and Western-style wedding is a good way for us to learn. We should take the advantages of other country to make up for the inadequacies of the Chinese wedding. Then we will have a broader communication with other countries. By continuous learning and reference, we will create and show our unique culture. Although wedding is just one way in the development of world, but some small way may see a national development..
