交响金属+爵士乐团=无敌好听！

荷兰交响金属EPICA又出跨界神作！

Metropole Orkest 是成立于1945年的著名荷兰交响乐团，曾经多次获得格莱美大奖，它同时拥有交响乐团与爵士乐团，并将两者组合在一起成为了一个有着52名音乐家的超大阵容，音乐风格也横跨多个领域，尤其是其独特的“双节奏模式”，一种适合流行乐和摇滚乐，另一种以爵士乐为根基。

在2017年的夏天，荷兰前卫交响巨擘 EPICA 曾经参加了由 Metropole Orkest 具备的比赛，依靠乐队强大的粉丝号召力，最终从包括 WITHIN TEMPTATION 在内的650名候选者中力压群雄、拔得头筹！奖励就是跟 Metropole Orkest 一起合作一部音乐作品。最终 EPICA 选择将自己2016年专辑《The Holographic Principle》中的《Beyond the Matrix》，改编成“大乐团遇上交响金属”的宏伟举止，除了获得 Metropole Orkest 诸多顶级专业艺术家的指导之外，还邀请到了荷兰前卫金属巨星 Arjen Lucassen (ARYEON) 助阵，奉上了一段非常精彩的Solo。

对于这次合作，EPICA 全队都非常兴奋，键盘手 Coen Janssen 谈到：“这次的合作确实如曲目标题那样是场战争，如何同时呈现出我们的重型风格和他们的爵士曲风这两个不同世界的深度，确实是个很大的挑战。但有 Tom Trapp 这样卓越的制作人就不成问题了！他完全懂得如何去构建并将我们的感觉转化成 Metropole Orchestra 的样子，从氛围音效到重型交响再到大乐团的部分，全都做了完美的呈现！完全超出了我们的期待！与这些专业大师们的亲密合作绝对是我们的荣幸，我们从中学到了太多，他们的交流、制作和演奏很多都让我大开眼界，这样独特的经历也早就了这版独特的《Beyond the Matrix》。”

其实原版的《Beyond the Matrix》就已经相当有气势了，而这次与 Metropole Orkest 合作的版本，更增加了一种独特的韵味，开场的爵士曲风真让我感觉走错了片场，但后续与EPICA的重型交响金属曲风的不断切换和起承转合，让整个作品的氛围感和层次感都得到了极大的提升，对我这样的前卫党来说，真的是要爽得大叫了！听到一半原本大合唱的部分就觉得已经到顶点了，没想到5分50秒开始的那段solo一下子让我鸡皮疙瘩全起来了，这样悠扬而深邃的solo不愧出自 Arjen Lucassen 之手，以后有机会要好好跟大家安利下这位荷兰大神！7分钟后曲风再度扭转，极端金属的曲风融合着爵士乐，在 Mark Jansen 的嘶吼中更加令人战栗。8分20秒开始最终的大合唱将曲目带到了最后的高潮，一切在暴风骤之后戛然而止，意犹未尽啊。

一直都对 EPICA 有着很高的期待，不光是因为他们刚出道时起点就颇高，更是因为他们非常难得的一直在进步，每一张新专辑都带来了整体质量上的提升，而这首《Beyond the Matrix: The Battle》更是把前卫的曲风玩儿到了一个新的高度（单指对EPICA本身而言），甚至让我觉得有跟 Nightwish 那首神作《The Greatest Show On Earth》分庭抗争的实力。对于我来说，每一次 EPICA 新的露面都会带来惊喜，也更期待她们能有机会再来中国巡演了！
